Drew Brees, Roger Craig, new class take center stage at HOF Enshrinement

Five notable figures in professional football—Drew Brees, Roger Craig, Luke Kuechly, Larry Fitzgerald, and Adam Vinatieri—were formally inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. The enshrinement ceremony for the Class of 2026 took place on Saturday, August 8, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. Each inductee addressed the audience during the afternoon event, which commenced at noon.
The inductees received their Gold Jackets the day before at the Canton Memorial Civic Center. The event was emceed by Chris Berman, who has performed this role for a quarter of a century. The Hall also recognized four Hall of Famers who passed away in the last year: Paul Tagliabue, Kenny Easley, Sonny Jurgensen, and Raymond Berry, with a video tribute before the ceremony began.
Inductee Highlights and Presenters
Drew Brees, presented by his former head coach with the Saints, Sean Payton, spoke about the camaraderie of being part of a team. Brees emphasized that his motivation throughout his NFL career was playing for the love of his teammates. He was instrumental in the rebirth of New Orleans, becoming a familiar face in the community after Katrina and leading the Saints to a championship. Brees is considered a first-ballot Hall of Famer and a key figure in the 2026 class.
Roger Craig, presented by his friend and former teammate Jamie Williams, shared that he is living with vascular dementia, attributing it to numerous concussions during his career. Craig stated that this diagnosis does not define him. He was a three-time Super Bowl champion and expressed being overwhelmed by his election to the Hall, which occurred 28 years after his career concluded. Craig pointed out that he retired before any of his fellow class members began their NFL careers. He was a significant part of the passing game for the 49ers in Bill Walsh’s West Coast offense, with more than 1,000 receiving yards in his third season, and rushed for 8,189 career yards.
Larry Fitzgerald was presented by his son, Devin Fitzgerald. Larry Fitzgerald reflected on his time as a ball boy for the Minnesota Vikings, where he interacted with future Hall of Famers like Cris Carter and Randy Moss. Fitzgerald’s career was marked by consistency and clutch moments over 17 seasons, all with the Arizona Cardinals. He earned 11 Pro Bowls and three All-Pro Team mentions, and received the 2016 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. He missed only eight games throughout his career.
Luke Kuechly‘s father, Tom Kuechly, served as his presenter. Luke began his speech by acknowledging each of his fellow Class of 2026 members. He called Drew Brees the best player he ever played against. Kuechly, a top-10 draft pick in 2012, immediately became a starter and was named Defensive Rookie of the Year. The following season, he earned the league’s Defensive Player of the Year award, initiating a seven-year period where he received a Pro Bowl invitation and was named first- or second-team All-Pro every season. Kuechly brought the St. Xavier varsity football team to the Enshrinement.
Adam Vinatieri was presented by Carlie Irsay-Gordon, owner and CEO of the Indianapolis Colts. Vinatieri paid tribute to the Patriots, including his former coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. Vinatieri made 599 regular-season field goals, the most in NFL history. His career, spanning over two decades, is remembered for key moments, including winning two Super Bowls with final-second field goals. He set multiple NFL records, including the most points ever scored by a player, playing 10 seasons with the Patriots and 14 with the Colts. The ceremony was televised by ESPN and NFL Network, and streamed on the ESPN app and NFL+.
