Nashville’s Peter Skoronski signs multi-year contract extension with Titans

Titans, Guard Peter Skoronski Reach Deal on Multi-Year Contract Extension - Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans have reached an agreement on a multi-year contract extension with guard Peter Skoronski. The deal ensures the left guard will remain with the team for an extended period, following the team’s earlier decision to pick up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract.

Reports indicate the new agreement is a four-year deal valued at $100 million, with $88 million guaranteed. This reported figure positions Skoronski as the league’s highest-paid guard, setting a new positional record for guaranteed money.

Mike Borgonzi, the team’s General Manager, expressed satisfaction with the agreement. “We couldn’t be happier to keep Peter in Nashville. The goal will always be to retain people and players who are cornerstones of our organization, and Peter is certainly that for us,” Borgonzi stated. He highlighted Skoronski’s work ethic, talent, and desire to win as qualities the organization values.

Skoronski also commented on the extension, calling it a “tremendous blessing.” He acknowledged the hard work, sacrifice, and support that contributed to this point in his career. “Thank you to Ms. Amy [Amy Adams Strunk], Mike Borgonzi and coach [Robert Saleh] for believing in me. From the moment I got here, this is where I wanted to be. I love this organization, I love this city, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue representing this franchise,” Skoronski said.

Skoronski’s Performance and Impact

Skoronski, who was the 11th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has been a consistent presence on the Titans‘ offensive line. He concluded the 2025 season with 17 starts at left guard, marking his second consecutive year with that number of starts. He was the only player on the team who participated in every offensive snap during the 2025 season.

Over the past three seasons, Skoronski has started 48 games. His 48 starts through 2025 represent the most for the team in its “Titans era” (from 1999 to the present) before a player’s 25th birthday, which is listed as July 31, 2026. His streak of 47 consecutive starts at the end of 2025 was the team’s longest active streak.

During the 2025 season, Skoronski was nominated for the 12th annual Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. This award, established in 2014 and named after Art Rooney Sr., recognizes players who exemplify on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition.

In his collegiate career at Northwestern, Skoronski maintained a perfect attendance record, starting every game in his three seasons and appearing in 33 contests at left tackle.

Looking Ahead for the Titans

The extension for Skoronski is viewed as a significant vote of confidence from the Titans, particularly in his ability to provide protection for quarterback Cam Ward. Ward experienced a challenging 2025 rookie campaign, taking an NFL-high 55 sacks for a league-worst 410 lost yards.

Despite the high number of sacks on Ward, Skoronski was credited by PFF with allowing only two sacks and one hit. This occurred despite a high pass volume, with Ward ranking eighth in the NFL with 540 attempts, and Skoronski’s own high workload, as he was on the field for every offensive snap. He concluded the campaign with the second-best pass-blocking grade among all NFL guards, according to PFF.

With Skoronski secured, head coach Robert Saleh will focus on assembling an offensive line combination that can help reduce the contact Ward faces. The team is currently addressing other positions on the offensive line, with an ongoing competition for the starting center spot involving Austin Schlottmann, Andre James, and rookie Pat Coogan. Additionally, Cordell Volson, Jackson Slater, and rookie Fernando Carmona Jr. are competing for the right guard position.

The Titans are scheduled to practice at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Friday night.
